Yangjiazhuang Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Jiaolai Basin. The Yangjiazhuang Formation was erected by the Regional Geological Team of the Shandong Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources in 1991. The section for the designation is in Yanjiazhuang of the Gaomi City. The reference section is the Lijiazhuang – Sujiabo section cross the Gaomi and Jiaozhou cities (119°37′E; 36°13′N).
Lithology and Thickness
The Yangjiazhuang Formation is built up by yellowish gray and greenish gray medium-grained feldspar sandstone, siltstone intercalated with gravel-bearing sandstone and siltstone. The thickness varies in different regions. The maximum thickness is up to 4699 m in eastern Shandong, and to 712 m in western Shandong.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
Shown as diachronously overlying the Zhifengzhuang Fm in strat column of Xi et al. (2019).
Upper contact
It unconformably underlies the Qugezhuang Fm (and/or the Houkuang Fm?)
Regional extent
The Yangjiazhuang Formation is wide distributed in Shandong.
